Staff in the restaurant don’t have visibility to the CRM and the deeper information about their guests it provides - as a result, they aren’t able to provide the most personalized experience. Smart tags deepen the connection between two of Olo's core products, Guest Data Platform (GDP) and Host, to provide your team with better information about your guests.
After you add Smart Tags, the Segments will get updated in ~6 hours. The Segment updates take place at the following times (CDT): 1am-7am-1pm-7pm, (EST): 2am-8am-2pm-8pm, (MST): 12am-6am-12pm-6pm, (PST): 11am-5am-11pm-5pm
With Smart Tags, you have the ability to add labels to your guest Segments.
- Labels can simply be visible on the Host stand as notes, OR, receive special highlights or priority seating.

- Tags will also be visible on an Embedded Profile within Sentiment
Tags will automatically be applied (or removed) from a guest's profile as the fall into or out of a Segment.
How to Configure Smart Tags

- First, create a Segment using whatever parameters that you want the tag to signify.

- After creating the Segment, go into the drill down view and click the 'Smart Tag' button to reveal the settings pop out:

- Select an icon (emoji) and name your tag:

- Hover over 'Host Guest Notes' or 'Dashboard Sentiment Profile' to view a preview of your Smart Tag

Optional: Apply any advanced settings
- Host Priority Highlight: The cell containing the guest's name on the Host app will be highlighted using the selected color
- Host Priority Seating: The party associated with the Smart Tag will be bumped up the list on Host.
