FAQs
Why send the Device Names to Wisely and not the router MAC addresses?
The default Device Names are similar to MAC addresses, and should uniquely identify the router. For example, the default Device Name ‘AH-8508c0’ corresponds to a router MAC of C8:66:5D:85:08:C0.
Aerohive takes the vendor prefix, ‘C8:66:5D’, that all Aerohive/Extreme Networks devices have, and shortens it to ‘AH-’.
For simplicity, our system works with the Device Names just as they appear in your ExtremeCloud dashboard. If you have customized the Device Names (also known as “Host Names”), no problem. We accept those as well.
