There’s nothing better than a “surprise and delight” from a friend when you’re celebrating an occasion at a restaurant - for example, a friend buying a bottle of wine for a friends anniversary, or treating a business colleague for a promotion.
The 'Add a Gift' feature is an easy way to coordinate something special for guests during their dining experience, like a surprise bottle of wine or dessert paid for ahead of time by a family member or friend.
Prerequisite: You must already have a Stripe account and be connected within your Engage account.
Pre-Pay Example:
- Tyler and his wife go out for their anniversary; earlier that day, Tyler’s friend Tanay calls the restaurant and says they’d like to send out a bottle of champagne on them.
- The service staff ask for a rough budget and for the purchaser’s phone number. They take the payer's credit card number over the phone.
- During service, the service team delivers the champagne and returns to the iPad - they select the seated party, access the pre-pay, and process the charge
- 7pm reservation going on 38
- When 38 gets seated, they are to be greeted w/ champagne
How to add gifts to a party:
Gifts can be added to an existing reservation from either the Dashboard or the Host app. From a reservation, click 'Add Gift (Pre-Pay),' and fill out the gift and payment details.
- You will be able to specify what the gift is, whether there is a set or uncapped budget, when the gift should arrive, and any other notes they'd like to add.
- Once a gift is added, the payer is texted to notify them that to confirm that their gift has been added.
- On the night of the reservation, the host is able to see that the reservation has a gift included, and tap in to the gift to see details, including charging it for the specified amount at the end of the meal.
